Jennifer Gonyea, Ph.D.

Marriage & Family Therapist
Jennifer has a doctorate in Marriage and Family Therapy and has been a National Certified Counselor (No. 47062) since 1997. She has ten years of clinical experience and was licensed as a Professional Counselor in 2005 (#4356). Jennifer is an experienced couples therapist providing therapy on premarital issues, infidelity, substance abuse recovery, sexual concerns, and building intimacy. In addition, she is an experienced family therapist who has worked with young children, adolescents, and their families in a variety of inpatient, outpatient, and home settings. Jennifer’s work with families has ranged from those struggling with diagnoses such as ADHD, Oppositional Defiant Disorder, Bipolar, Depression, or Anxiety to adjusting to new marriages, blended families, and custody issues.
Jennifer is currently a part-time instructor at The University of Georgia. She developed and taught an undergraduate class devoted to couples interpersonal relationships for three years. In addition, she has developed and taught a family intervention class aimed at students who wish to pursue a career as a marriage and family therapist. Lastly, she has guest lectured at The University of Georgia on the topics of marital communication, strengthening intimacy, and successful relationships.
